    Nepal´s informal trade of agricultural commodities with India stands at around Rs 65 billion -- more than 21 percent of total formal trade, thanks to porous border and hosts of trade barriers imposed on agro-trade, an independent study commissioned by the government revealed.

  • Energy crisis: Time for a paradigm

    The past few months have brought Nepal, especially the urban Nepal, down on its knees, with one of the longest and cumulative crisis of energy, ranging from load shedding to petrol and diesel shortage and lack of cooking gas. None of these shortages are a new phenomenon, but the severity of recent times has hit the country the hardest in years. The looting of cooking gas by locals for distribution among themselves depicts how desperate the situation is.
